Young Sheldon just finished its sixth season on CBS and is coming back for a seventh. It’s available on Netflix in many places and they keep adding new seasons. It’s a prequel to The Big Bang Theory following a young Sheldon Cooper as he goes through school and deals with being super smart. Fans of the latter show know just how incredibly intelligent Sheldon is and just how many things he knows. It is like he walks around with a computer fitted into his head and he knows how to access it.
Where is the Show Streaming?
The show itself is not owned and operated by Netflix. It is just sold to them by Warner Bros on a licence basis and the operation goes on a region by region basis. As of now Netflix only holds the streaming rights to Sheldon in three countries if we are to delve a bit deeper. HBO Max also holds the streaming rights in a dozen or so countries and fans in those countries can very easily see it on the platform if they so wish. As one can say there is a variety of platforms to choose from.
Season 5 Dates
Here is a spot of news for fans who were eagerly waiting for news regarding the show. Young Sheldon season 5 premiered on CBS way back in 2022 but they will have to wait for a bit longer if they wish to watch it on Netflix. The show is expected to arrive at Netflix somewhere in late 2023 and might even extend to 2024. Thus fans will have to wait for now and keep their fingers crossed that a gross delay does not happen. Both critics and fans are now awaiting the release with bated breath.
The Premise
The irony of being not understood by anyone except himself is the premise of Young Sheldon. He is insanely smart to the point of asking difficult philosophical questions that should have been incredibly uncommon for a child his age. Sheldon grows up in the 90s and struggles to carve out a niche for himself in the world. His own family doesn’t understand his intellectual capabilities and social ineptitude. Sadly this is pretty reflective of the real world where prodigies are often misunderstood by people close to them. The show is hilarious and dramatic in equal measure.
Production Was a Delight
The showrunners have maintained time and again that creating a Sheldon spinoff had always been in the pipeline. They just did not get around to committing to it until 2016 when more funds for the Sheldon spinoff arrived. Quite naturally the makers of the show decided to focus on Sheldon because of his quirky nature and high level of intelligence. It would simply attract the kind of attention they wanted for their series and it was inevitable. Chuck Lorre said that the entire cast had a wonderful time working on Young Sheldon and it is inevitable.
Legacy
Though he can be quite annoying, Young Sheldon is very much a boy with his heart in the right place. He loves his friends and family in the long run. Such characters always find a special place in the hearts of people. It can also be said with confidence that he is the favourite of quite a few fans of the show. Watching a child prodigy pass all the awkward stages of life with confidence and passion can be quite refreshing. All future seasons of Young Sheldon will have nice ratings if fans are to be believed.
If people want to watch another such series while the next season comes out they might check out The Wonder Years. It has a very similar premise and tells the tale of Kevin Arnold who is a teenage prodigy. However, itmust navigate life while being labelled a freak and what not by the community around him. The suburban middle class family system of the 80s has been portrayed very beautifully in the series and fans will love it very much. Thus if a healthy dose of the child prodigy drama is required, The Wonder Years will serve as a good dish.
