According to McDaniels, “None of us is happy with where we’re at, but we think it’s an opportunity to evaluate a younger player who hasn’t had much time to play.” 

He also added that Derek does understand the entire scenario and therefore is very supportive of the younger guys. As a senior player, he will help them anyhow. On this note, let us tell you that Derek’s performance has faltered a bit recently. His passing rate is only 86.3 which is a record low for him since his rookie days. We will see Stidham, the 4th round pick of 2019 this season now.
