Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland, breathed her first on December 6, 1984, as Sofia Kristian Hellqvist. She was born to her parents at the Danderyd Hospital in Danderyd. His Danish-Swedish father was an employment counsellor at a Swedish employment agency. His name was Erik Oscar Hellqvist. On the other hand, her Swedish mother Marie Britt Rotman worked in the plastics industry as a marketing manager. 

Apart from her parents, she also has two sisters in her family. Their names are Sara Hellqvist, who is a criminologist and Lina Hellqvist, a humanitarian project coordinator.
