Suicide Squad

IMDb: 5.9/10

Suicide Squad

After one year from the events of Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad takes the DCEU in a different direction, setting a new tone. Also, this one is incredible in scope.

The film features a star-studded cast including Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie. Instead of the usual superhero team-ups, Suicide Squad delves into a darker storyline, exploring what happens when notorious villains are forced to work together.

Tasked by the US government with a classified mission, the team known as ‘Task Force X’ must join forces to defeat a mysterious new enemy or face dire consequences. The movie had good intentions. However, it failed to garner good reviews until James Gunnn created his now famous reboot.

Justice League

Justice League

In Justice League, the DCEU’s most significant team-up occurs as the characters from Batman v Superman come together to face their biggest threat yet.

As they cope with the aftermath of Superman’s sacrifice, Batman enlists Wonder Woman’s help in assembling a team of “metahumans” to combat the formidable villain Steppenwolf. Also, it is the first time they all team up. Quite exciting.

In this version, Jared Leto’s Joker from Suicide Squad returns, and the antagonist Darkseid has a more significant role. Also, Darkseid gets to have a full reveal in the movie. He is titanic and powerful.

Although closely related to the main DCEU timeline, ‘The Snyder Cut’ is considered non-canon. However, it’s still worth watching in the movie timeline as it provides a more thorough and satisfying experience compared to the 2017 cut.

Aquaman

IMDb: 6.8/10

Aquaman

A year after Justice League, Jason Momoa returns as Aquaman, the rightful ruler of Atlantis, facing challenges to maintain peace under the sea. Also, he must first fight a resentful brother for the throne.

The story explores Aquaman’s origins, his journey to power, and his commitment to protecting the kingdom of Atlantis. However, he must divide his attention between dealing with threats on the surface and those from the depths of the sea.

IMDb: 7/10

Shazam!

In Shazam!, the tone of the DCEU takes a softer turn. The story revolves around Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan chosen by an ancient wizard to become his champion. Also, when Billy shouts “SHAZAM,” he transforms into a superhero with incredible powers.

With the body of a superhero and the mind of a child, Billy, now known as Shazam, must quickly learn to control his powers to defeat the villainous Thaddeus Sivana, who desires the same powers.

Shazam! takes place after the events of Justice League and Aquaman, as indicated by a newspaper headline declaring “Superman Is Back” and a post-credits scene that includes a joke about Aquaman.

IMDb: 6.4/10

Birds of Prey

This team of notorious criminals must put aside their differences as they embark on a secret mission to the island of Corto Maltese.

Also, this is hands down one of the best DCEU movies ever. Also, the amount of violence and wisecracking is just unreal.

Peacemaker

IMDb: 8.3/10
