Lee Rodarte was the manager at the Bonefish Grill. It is located on San Jose Boulevard. In the same restaurant, Savannah Gold was working as the manager. It is usual for the couple to have an on-off relationship. So, they had disputes normally. But one day, this dispute ended the life of Gold.
What Happened To Savannah Gold?
On August 2, 2017, Gold reached the restaurant and parked her car. But she didn’t come out of the car and also did not enter the restaurant. Instead, she got into the car of Rodarte and was seated in a passenger seat. Almost for 15 minutes, they were fighting inside the car.
As a result, Rodarte came out of his car and got into Gold’s car through the driver’s side door. It was noticed that Gold didn’t come out of Rodarte’s car. Then, he got into his car and just drove away from the restaurant.
Soon after some time, on that day, Gold’s family was getting messages from her phone. It was like she met someone with whom she ran away to start her life. But her family members didn’t believe these messages, as Gold’s way of messaging is different from it.
Even Gold’s brother mentioned one of her texts to the police. But the interesting fact is that Rodarte joined Gold’s family and friends to search for her. He even acted like he was worried about missing Gold.
After three days of investigation, Rodarte admitted the murder crime. He said that he disposed of Gold’s body in a lake. Also, Gold’s body was burnt and then disposed to the lake. This shows that this death is a violent homicide.
The Punishment For Lee Rodarte:
Lee Rodarte needs to serve 40 years in prison on 11th March 2021. Almost, this murder case was going on for three years. Finally, it came to an end on March 11.
In February, Rodarte pleaded guilty after reaching an arrangement with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to doing this second-degree murder. Thus, prosecutors proposed a punishment of 40 years of prison. Finally, the judge agreed with the prosecutors.
Rodarte tried to claim self-defense early in 2019. But the court didn’t accept his claim and denied it all. Rodarte attempted for proof tampering, as he disposed of Gold’s body to the lake. But with a plea arrangement, the court dropped all such other charges.
Since he was in prison for three years, prosecutors asked for 40 years in prison. This is like credit for serving three years in jail.
