The insights from the game

The insights from the game

The top players from both teams chased the ball as expected. We find that Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier bumped Ja Morant after he caught a floating pass from Santi Aldama.

The Memphis Grizzlies star was knocked off balance about 18 feet from the basket. After that, he threw the ball into the air. We then find that it banked off the glass. All of this happened as the referee blew his whistle.

Morant only managed to smile. The Grizzlies would benefit greatly from the play and it is evident now.

The Grizzlies defeated the Hornets 131-107. The game took place on Wednesday at the Spectrum Center. Thus we find that the game was led by Morant’s 23 points. Most importantly if we analyze the season, we will see that the Grizzlies have scored 130 or more points five times.

Desmond Bane had a career-high of 19 points and 10 rebounds. He brilliantly scored nine points. Not only that, Steven Adams pulled down 15 rebounds. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillon Brooks went 6-for-10 from the field. It is interesting to see them netting 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Thus collectively analyzing the game, it is evident that things worked out thrillingly. Lots of interesting developments made these possible.

Brilliant start

The start of a game determines the pace of the overall game. Hence it mattered in this case as well. The Memphis Grizzlies exhibited brilliant performance from the very onset of the game. The defense was nothing but stifling. It greatly helped to keep the opponents in check. Thus the game naturally worked in their favor.

The Grizzlies scored a season-high 76 points. They did so in two quarters. All the while they ensured shooting 53% in the first half. At halftime, Morant led the Grizzlies with 19 points. Bane appeared to be closer to his former self which is very interesting. We also find Brooks was effective on offense. Bane had the first double-double of his career.

Rotation changes

Brandon Clarke was seen to join Danny Greene. Williams appeared to have been overtaken by David Roddy. This was seen when Aldama moved into his usual rotation spot. Williams has struggled since suffering from patellar tendinitis. It happened in his right knee late last season. Thus he had trouble regaining his form.

Due to pain in his right knee, he missed the previous two games. Williams entered the game in the middle of the fourth quarter. It was problematic because at that time the score was beyond reach.

In the first half, Roddy demonstrated his offensive potential. He did so with back-to-back possessions in which he got downhill. After that, he used his size to power through smaller defenders.

Thus it is evident that the overall defensive abilities of the Grizzlies have improved a lot as well. It makes us hopeful for future games.

Conclusion

The next venture of the Grizzlies will now be in Orlando. There they will face off against the Magic on Thursday.
