Walter Ray Allen was born on July 20, 1975, at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. Also, his parents, Flora and Walter Sr. moved to various locations, including Suffolk, England, Altus, Oklahoma, and different Air Force bases in California and Germany.

After the 1996 NBA draft, Ray Allen joined the Milwaukee Bucks and immediately became one of their most valuable players. After the 1998-99 NBA lockout, Allen signed a six-year contract with the Bucks for $70.9 million, making him the highest-paid player in franchise history at that time. In 2003, the Bucks traded Allen to the Seattle SuperSonics, where he played until 2007.

In 2012, the Miami Heat traded for Allen, and he played for them until he retired two seasons later.
