Aggravate Your Skin

Our skin is an organ, just like our heart, lungs, kidneys, stomach, and others.

Having flawless skin requires a lot of consistent effort. You may be using the right products, but even then, your skin condition may not be showing improvement. Some certain habits and routines can lead to a worsening of skin.

Dermatitis is a commonly-occurring skin condition, which leads to itching skin, dry skin, rashes, redness, and blisters. Whether it is genetics or a particular lifestyle, dermatitis occurs due to a variety of reasons. If you experience this, certain habits and lifestyle changes can help improve your skin condition.

Here are things that aggravate your skin and can lead to permanent skin damage.

Soaps and detergents

Overusing soaps for washing hands and face dries the skin out and deprives it of natural oils. Likewise, detergents, including dishwasher soap and laundry detergent, irritate the skin. It can also cause redness and the skin to peel off. Household cleaners are even more harmful to the skin. These include window cleaners, carpet cleaning solutions, disinfectants, etc.

In everyday living, you cannot prevent the use of soaps and detergents, but you can take some precautions. Wear protective gloves when cleaning around the house.

Perfumes and fragrances

Many people suffer from perfume allergies that cause skin irritation and redness. In extreme cases, it can lead to blisters and outbreaks. You may even feel a burning sensation on the skin. Although perfumes do not contain allergens, the synthetic chemicals can irritate the skin and put the immune response of your body in action.

In such a case, it is best to avoid perfumes. Moreover, avoid using perfumed lotions. Instead, use a dermatitis cream at Bioderma to keep your skin moisturized and prevent itchiness.

Metal

Metals, such as nickel, can cause allergic reactions. It can cause the skin to appear red and swollen. This condition is also known as metal hypersensitivity. In the case of other prevalent skin conditions, the chances of metal hypersensitivity increases.

Hence, wearing metallic jewelry is out of the question. Topical creams and lotions help in preventing inflammation and rashes due to the metal. You can also take oral medication, but these are not without side-effects.

Makeup products

Makeup products are also a common cause of skin allergies. According to WebMD, there are two types of skin reactions to makeup products. When you apply a product onto the skin, it causes a localized allergic reaction, such as redness and itchiness. It is also known as contact dermatitis. It is the first type of body reaction to makeup products. The second type of body reaction is involved in the immune system. In this, your skin will probably swell. Moreover, your eyes, tongue, ears, neck, and other parts of your body may also feel irritated.

Synthetic fabrics

Synthetic fabrics include rayon, nylon, polyester, and others. Such fabrics can irritate the skin; however, swelling and redness happen in rare circumstances. This condition is also known as textile contact dermatitis. Latex and rubber can also cause contact dermatitis.
