Solar Energy

Solar energy has proven to be a booming business in recent years. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, the average annual growth rate has been 42%. The cost of installation has dropped significantly, and over 200,000 Americans work in the industry.

It’s the number one form of renewable energy for homeowners to invest in, and there are many reasons to do so. Here are a few of the benefits that should more than convince you to go green and try out sustainable living.

1. Eco-Friendly Renewable Energy

One of the most common reasons for investing in renewable energy is to save the environment. An eco-friendly lifestyle leaves very little impact on the planet because it doesn’t rely on fossil fuels.

In most cities, electricity is derived from non-renewable sources that harm the environment, while solar panels use naturally occurring sunlight.

2. Go Green for Tax Incentives

One aspect of installing solar panels that holds people back is the cost. However, there are plenty of tax incentives that can help you lower that cost.

One of the most significant ones gives you back a third of the money you spent on installation and equipment when you file your taxes. There are also state rebates and local credits like Solar Renewable energy credits.

3. Lower Energy Bills

Although it can be a heavy initial investment to go green and install solar panels, you’ll save on the cost of your monthly energy bills. The more solar energy you generate, the less you have to spend on electricity.

Additionally, the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 made it so you can earn credits for generating solar power back into the electric grid. In other words, going solar lets you save on money and give back to your community.

4. Increase Property Value

Homes with solar energy sell better and for more than those without. It’s easy to see why. New homeowners don’t have to use their own money to install solar panels, and the energy production means they’ll have lower energy bills.

5. Easy to Install

Installing solar panels isn’t too complicated. You can get them installed as long as you have space for the panels and access to consistent sunlight. Some panels are simply rolled and stuck onto your pre-existing roof.

The most difficult part will be waiting for a local permit and the home inspection. Lucky for you, the solar company files for the permit themselves. The overall time you could end up waiting can be as little as one month and up to three months.

Benefit from Sustainable Energy

Although the initial cost to go green can be scary, the benefits make it more than worthwhile. You’re not only helping to save the environment but also saving money down the line.

However, not every home can be fitted with solar energy. Check with your local solar provider to see if your property is compatible.
